Most arcades in the U.S. run redemption games and a handful of licensed cabinets. Game Nest was built around actual Japanese imports — the rhythm and racing machines that define arcades in Tokyo and Osaka but rarely make it stateside.

Owners Abraham and Julie Ann Salume sourced the cabinets directly rather than settling for domestic equivalents, so the rhythm games, drumming machines, and racing simulators on the floor are the same hardware you’d find in a Japanese arcade, running on one unlimited hourly play card.

Japanese arcade games FAQ

What makes these arcade games different from a typical U.S. arcade?

The rhythm and racing cabinets are imported directly from Japan rather than domestic equivalents, so the hardware and gameplay match what you’d find in a Japanese arcade.

Do I need experience to play the rhythm games?

No — most cabinets have adjustable difficulty and are easy to pick up even for first-time players.

Are the imported games on the same play card as everything else?

Yes — rhythm and racing cabinets run on the same unlimited hourly play card as the rest of the floor.

Is there anything for non-rhythm-game players?

Yes — the floor also has claw machines, retro classics, and prize games.
